bryan holmes -explotacion
BRYAN HOLMES (1981) is a Chilean composer graduated in Musical Sciences and Arts at Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, where he studied composition and orchestration under Eduardo Cáceres. He also studied Philosophy at Universidad de Valparaíso, Chile, and since 2007 he courses a Master in Music at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).EXPLOTACIÓN (“exploitation” in english) is an EP collecting four electroacoustic works, composed betwen late 2005 and 2006. Though it prevails an acousmatic spirit, the paradox appears as sound sources have a great importance in the conception of music and even in its macro-structure. These samples, generally homogeneus (monothematic), were recorded by poor means such as a computer microphone or a handycam, lacking any interfaces or sophistication. During the processing it were used different softwares and diverse techniques with the intention of, precisely, exploiting these sounds and getting the maximum benefit from them, just as if they were electroacoustic studies.
